Treatment For Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder And Complex PTSD With Evidence-Based Interventions
Are Challenges From Your Past Still Complicating Your Daily Life?
Do You Find It Hard To Relax?
Do You Frequently Have Big Reactions TO Small Triggering Events?
Thankfully, our culture is becoming more trauma-informed. This means that more of us are learning about the legacy of trauma in ourselves, individually and collectively. We are understanding more about the debilitating effects of trauma in the short and long term. In the field of mental health, we are also learning how to treat those who suffer from the legacy of trauma more effectively.
Most clients I work with have some trauma in their histories. This could be big T Trauma, like rape, witnessing or receiving physical and/or emotional abuse at home, or neglect from caregivers. Or it could be little t traumas, which are smaller challenges that continue over a long period of time; for example, struggling or being teased in school, a history of disappointing relationships, financial stress or families that are emotionally unsafe.
People are exceptional in their ability to survive hardships. In that survival, we consciously and unconsciously adapt survival strategies that can get us through horrible experiences. Those strategies often become our default ways of functioning, and years later, the same operating systems may still run us. The active threat is usually in the past, but our emotional and physiological worlds function like the threat is just around the corner.
We will explore your current symptoms, create goals specifying how you would like to change and work together to train having different responses to triggering events. I will support you at a slow pace that will be focused on sustainable change that is rooted in your physiological experience. It won’t be scary or overwhelming. The freedom you will cultivate is worth the challenge of turning towards your shadows and working through their idiosyncratic difficulties.
I Will Help You Understand How A Legacy Of Trauma May Be Impacting Your Life

The modalities that I use in trauma work are primarily somatic/body-based.
They include:
Mindfulness-Based Interventions
Janina Fisher’s Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Training
Internal Family Systems
The Hakomi Method
Staci Haines’ model of Somatic Trauma Treatment
I am not trained in EMDR and thus do not use it in my current practice.
